Q&A: Where can I find essential oil of daphne?
Question by Larly L: Where can I find essential oil of daphne?
The smell of the daphne plant is my favorite scent. I have been told that if it can be made an essential oil it has been made an essential oil. I can find soap and other products that are supposedly fragranced with daphne but I cannot find daphne as an essential oil. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to look (I have tried all the obvious places like various fragrance stores, whole foods, natural remedies stores, online) or in the alternative good products that incorporate the scent of daphne (soap, bath salts)?
Thank You!

What is the botanical name of the plant you are referring to? There are many plants in the Daphne genus and there are plants called Daphne that are a different genus, Laurus nobilis is an example. Best to start with the specific plant.
Some plant materials simply don’t lend themselves well to steam distillation or other extraction methods. Not all plants have been commercially distilled. If you are going to find any true Daphne genus product, it will likely be an enfleurage made by a hobbyist.
